Project Wild Gorewada
How it all started??
Do you know that Gorewada has been the pride of Nagpur since the time of the British? British Era, officers used to come in summer to spend their time in Gorewada Lake and its nearby forest. From then till today, many people from Nagpur and surrounding areas visit Gorewada Lake every morning and evening to spend their time.
Gorewada Lake has water in almost every season of the year due to the plenty of forested trees and being adjacent to the Pench River. Due to the generous availability of water, the presence of many wild animals can be seen in this area. Deer, Peacock, Nilgai, and some time Leopard can also be seen here with many varieties of birds.
To further increase the tourists visiting numbers in Nagpur, as well as to make the Gorewada's natural lake, Tribal Arts an economic source of income, in the year 2006, the Government Central Zoo Authority has proposed a forest of 1914 hectares from around 8 km of Gorewada Lake to make the area into a zoo and from here it began the project wild gorewada.
The government decided to make this zoo project wild gorewada at a modern level as well as to the international standard, in which the Forest Department of Maharashtra, private companies, and the central government would be involved.
In the construction of Wild Gorewada, government companies as well as companies such as Essel World Group completed some of the zoo work in the early stages. Nagpur's renowned Ashfaq Ahmed Consultancy Service has come up with a complete design line-up for the creation of the Wild Gorewada Zoo. And its construction was estimated to cost around 392 crores.
Project wild gorewada is a massive project that includes an International Zoo Park, Jungle Safari, Animal Rescue Center, and Bio-Diversity Garden in Nagpur city.
